A lot of people rely on plugin presets nowadays without really knowing what they do or how to properly use them to their advantage. A big part of the modern audio mixing techniques we use today involve the use of computer systems and tailored software for different creative/technical functions. It’s important for an engineer to have complete mastery of these digital tools. in the Advanced Mixing Techniques module, we’ll start by discussing mixing fundamentals using mostly stock plugins inside our DAW: Protools®. We chose Protools® as our main DAW for audio mixing since it’s a global standard on most commercial studios and it is what most people use, but the concepts still apply to any other DAW.
